Instruction for peat products

How to get the best out of your Kekkilä peat products
– recommended instructions for use

Loosening the Bales

In order to obtain the maximum out-turn volume, all bales should be carefully loosened, adding 10-20 litres of water per XL-bale and 200-300 litres of water per Maxi bale, during the loosening process. The addition of water aids the formation of peat granules which are necessary for obtaining the maximum out-turn volume.
Please note that excessive mixing will destroy the structure of the peat.

Adding Nutrients

We recommend adding water-soluble NPK fertiliser even to the fertilised products, as the base fertilisation will last only a few weeks after being taken into cultivation. (Assuming they have been stored correctly and used within the recommended time period.)

Frozen products

Please note that products shipped between December and April might be frozen and should be thoroughly thawed before use.

Handling the products

Bales should be handled carefully to avoid breaking the plastic packaging, especially during loading and unloading.

Storing the products

Peat should never be stored in direct sunlight. It should always be stored in a cool, dry and dark storage isolated from all potential contamination sources.
The products should be used within three months after receipt of delivery.

Recycling the packages

All our packages are made from recyclable plastic, polythene-LD 04.
